Below you can read some useful questions and answers that will provide you with further information about our exciting Tag-Along tours, however please do not hesitate to Contact Us with any additional questions or information you may require.
I have never heard of a Tag-Along 4WD tour - what exactly is involved?
A Tag-Along tour allows people with their own (or rented) 4WD to join up with an experienced tour group and allows them to self-drive while enjoying the benefits, safety and comradeship that comes with travelling along with an experienced 4WD tour group.
I’m bringing my own 4WD, what will my vehicle need?
You will need to ensure your tyres are better than 50% as well as having a Recovery Strap, Recovery points on the rear and front of your vehicle, UHF radio and security for your cargo. We also recommend a vehicle fridge.
Most of the larger 4WD vehicles will most probably be suitable for our Tag-Along Tours, however, as well as the above mentioned requirements, you will need to have a spare wheel, dual battery set-up, jerry cans and water containers. While not a ‘must have’, we strongly recommend you also have a long range diesel fuel tank, bull bars, roof rack, air compressor and jumper leads.
Can I choose to do the Kimberley tour or the Cape York?
Yes, you can choose which tour you would like to Tag-Along with, including our Fishing Tour.
Do I have to be an experienced 4WD driver?
No you don’t, we invite novice 4WD drivers through to experienced off-roaders to tag-along with us. Our tag-along tours are great for novice drivers keen to navigate remote off-road areas in the safety of an experienced 4WD group.
What is the difference between the self-catered tag-along tour and the catered tag-along tour?
The self-catered 4WD tag-along tour is cheaper as you provide your own camping gear, food and drink plus you also pay your own accommodation and/or camping fees on the self-catered tour. You also do your own cooking on our self-catered tours.
Do I have to pay a deposit?
Yes you do, please check out the Tour Dates & Rates page for all this information.
It would be cheaper to just organise some mates to do a 4WD self-drive tour together, what are the benefits of joining up with a commercial Tag-Along tour group instead?
Our tours are all about personal enjoyment and safety! We travel to some pretty remote locations, and these areas are not somewhere you would want to be ‘stuck’ if you have vehicle difficulties, get bogged in, lost or become unwell. When you travel with our experienced 4WD tour guides in convoy along pre-organised routes, you can enjoy the excitement of driving your own 4WD and experiencing some of the best off-road driving to be had in out-back Australia.
I don’t own a 4WD, am I able to hire one?
Many rental vehicle operators in Australia place restrictions on where you can take their 4WD vehicles, so it pays to check before you hire. We are happy to provide information on suitable 4WD rental companies.
Is there an age restriction for those driving their own 4WD?
No. As long as you have your own vehicle and appropriate drivers licence. If you are planning on hiring a 4WD vehicle you might find that rental companies will not hire 4WD’s to people aged under 25 years.
What happens if my 4WD breaks down on the tour?
We will endeavour to do everything possible to get your vehicle mobile again so that you can continue with us on the tour or at least get you and your 4WD to civilisation! We wont leave you stranded! We always leave space in one of our tour vehicles for extra passengers while every endeavour will be made via Satellite phone to organise for recovery of any ‘broken down’ vehicles.
Can I bring my children in our 4WD vehicle?
We do have a minimum age for children on the tour. Because we travel to rather remote areas we recommend that children under the age of 10 do not travel on our off-road tours. If you would like your child/ren to attend please contact us to discuss further.
How many vehicles go on each tour?
We specialise in small, personalised tours which is why the maximum number of vehicles on one trip is restricted to 6 4WD vehicles only.
Is it safe to use my credit card online via your Website?
Yes. We treat the security of our guest’s information very seriously. To ensure your security, all credit card transactions are secured by SSL, which encrypts the credit card number so as to make it unavailable to any other party.
Which credit card types do you accept?
We accept Visa, Master Card, Bankcard and Diners.
What is your cancellation policy?
Any cancellations must be received at least 28 days prior to tour departure date. Cancellations must be received in writing (email, letter or fax) and confirmation from us of receipt of your cancellation is proof of your cancellation request. If you do not receive a reply from us advising receipt of your cancellation then you must assume that our offices have not received your cancellation. A cancellation cost up to but not more than the deposit will be incurred.
