MARUIA SPRINGS
Located within the stunning surrounds of the Lewis Pass and beside the Maruia River is where you will find a unique tourist mountain hideaway with more than a little touch of Japan. Each thermal pool is a perfectly formed tarn and built from the smoothest of river rocks, while individual spas and hot pools are available overlooking the river.
BLACKS POINT
This historic township is just km's east of Reefton and boasts to being rich in cultural history with strong Cornish and Celtic connections dating back to the 1860s. Visit the Blacks Point Museum to learn more about the history of the Inangahua area and the early settlers who came to work the mines and make this area their home.
BRUNNER MINE
The historic Brunner Mine is the site of an explosion in 1896, which is considered New Zealand’s greatest work place disaster. 65 men underground died when gas ignited. A significant memorial commemorating the disaster greets the visitor to the Taylorville side of the complex.
GREYMOUTH
Situated at the mouth of the Grey River, Greymouth is the largest town on the West Coast of the South Island. This is a popular coastal tourist stop, mainly because of the Greymouth airport and the TranzAlpine scenic train that arrives from and departs to Christchurch daily.
